When you work managing a community programme in inner city areas it can be tough and lonely.
Within a culture of decreasing resources and expanding need surrounding you, especially if you also live in the same place, work can sometimes feel unending or overwhelming. That is why Outworks is so important.
I work as a Manager of a charity in a deprived area; so to be with people who really understand and have been, or are, in similar situations is invaluable. As well as the mutual support, we receive care for ourselves with food provided and facilitated conversations to help in finding solutions to the problems faced in these days.
We are nurtured, rather than always having to be the ones looking after everyone else, and that means I will be able to work better, and be around for longer to help others on a day to day basis.
